Cassiopeia Popcorn, in Bronze & Red

$4.95

Zea mays

Days to Maturity: 100-110

Cassiopeia Popcorn was bred for its early maturity, high number of ears per plant and larger ear size, and its gorgeous multicolored hues. Here we bring you a selection of bronze, caramel & red tones-- a feast for the eyes and tastebuds! Note that popcorn does NOT typically cross with sweet corn or flour corn, so you can grow them together.

Cassiopeia Popcorn is an Open Source Seed Initiative pledged variety bred by Don Tipping in southern Oregon. Seeds originated from Cochiti Pueblo, crossed with 4 other strains over 11 years.

Planting Instructions: Plant Cassiopeia Popcorn seeds in May, 1" deep and 4" apart. Harvest ears as husks turn brown. Make popcorn by first allowing cobs to dry completely (up to a month in our dry Colorado or Southwest climate).

Seed Saving Instructions: Pick corn cobs when fingernail does not dent kernels, as leaves are browning. Shuck (remove leaves) and allow kernels to dry fully on the cob, up to a month. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.

Approx 50 Cassiopeia Popcorn seeds per packet
