Bekana Mustard is a mild, heading mustard green. Leaves are slightly ruffled with deep veins and light green color. Fantastic eaten raw in salad, and when picked young is a perfect addition to your farmer's market salad mix. It is also great cooked in stir-fries, braising greens, soups and more when fully mature. Unlike other mustard greens, Bekana is NOT bitter or spicy. It has a mild, delicate, tender flavor.

Best of all, Bekana Mustard is cold season AND warm season tolerant! It is slow to bolt even in direct summer heat, and will survive light frosts. Cover with straw or grow in greenhouse in winter. It is fast-growing and matures within 40 days.

Original seeds obtained from Frank Morton of Wild Garden Seed. Grown by Groundwork in Paonia, CO.

Planting Instructions: Plant Bekana Mustard seeds in early spring or late summer/early fall, 1/4-1/2" deep. Thin to 12" apart.

Seed Saving Instructions: Allow vigorous, tasty plants to bolt and go to seed. Collect seed when brown pods easily crumble in your hand. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
