Goluboy Les (Blue Forest) Tomato

$4.95

Solanum lycopersicum

Days to Maturity: 70 from transplant

Goluboy Les tomato (also known as Blue Forest tomato) first turns blue and then purple in the sun! A delight to watch them change colors as they grow and pick off the green tops to reveal their underlying star patterns. These tomatoes were an all-star winner in this year's tomato trials, producing boatloads of fruits & maintaining awesome vigor all the way until fall frost. Delicious eaten raw or as sauce. Sweet and mild flavor, great for raw tomato salads and salsas.

Original seeds from Miss Penn's Mountain Seeds.

Planting Instructions: Start Blue Forest tomato seeds indoors under grow lights or in a greenhouse 6-10 weeks before last frost. Transplant 2+ weeks after last frost when soil has warmed a bit. Space plants at least 4 feet apart. Support growth with tomato cages, a trellis or wire. Water regularly but avoid overwatering (soil should be moist but not wet).

Seed Saving Instructions: When fully ripe, pick your tastiest fruits from the most vigorous plants. Cut open and squeeze seeds and juice into a jar. Secure a cloth over the jar so air can enter. Ferment the juice and seeds in the jar for 2-3 days. Then strain and rinse the seeds. Dry on a screen or cloth. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
