Big Jim Pepper

$3.95

Capsicum annuum

Days to Maturity: 70-80 from transplant

Big Jim is your SUPER BIG hot pepper! Peppers can reach up to a foot in length! Want a reliable, huge variety for stuffed peppers (rellenos) or grilling? Big Jim is your boy. We love that Big Jim only reaches 500 to 2500 Scoville units, slightly less hot than a jalapeño but still with a nice warming heat. New Mexico State University bred this pepper that has now become a widespread favorite among Southwestern gardeners and beyond.

Planting Instructions: Start Big Jim Pepper seeds indoors under lights 3-6 weeks before last spring frost. Transplant after all danger of frost has passed in full sun, spaced 2' apart. Keep soil slightly moist but do not overwater.

Seed Saving Instructions: Use gloves to avoid burning skin! Remove Big Jim Pepper seeds from the tastiest, fully mature fruit. Or use a blender with a very low setting-- place fruits with plenty of water and slowly blend. Strain out seeds. Dry seeds on a screen or cloth. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.

Approx 25 Big Jim Pepper seeds per packet
