Lactuca sativa
Days to Maturity: 50-60
Anuenue Lettuce is the best heat-tolerant lettuce we've found! Slow-bolting, heading lettuce remains crisp and tender for months. A great choice for extending your lettuce eating days into the mid-summer heat. Try harvesting Anuenue leaves from the crown--leaving the centermost crown growth and big bottom leaves intact--for repeated new growth. Originally bred by the University of Hawaii, Anuenue (pronounced "a-new-ee-new-ee") means rainbow.
Planting Instructions: Sow Anuenue Lettuce seeds outdoors in early spring thru late summer, every 3 weeks. Sprinkle 1/4" soil on top, keep evenly moist until germinated.
Seed Saving Instructions: Allow most vigorous and tastiest plants to bolt & flower. Collect seed when white fluffs form from the flowerheads. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
