Mexican Hat is a native wildflower named for its unique, sombrero shape from petals that droop downward around a tall, central cone. This drought-tolerant, low-maintenance perennial grows up to 2-3 feet tall and attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies. Mexican Hat is ideal for naturalistic gardens, prairie restorations, or xeriscaping due to its resilience in poor soils and hot, dry conditions.
Planting Instructions: Plant Mexican Hat seeds in early spring to early summer, 1/4" deep, 6" apart. Keep moist until germinated.
Seed Saving Instructions: Collect Mexican Hat seed when seed heads are dry and easily crumble in your hand. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
Approximately 100 Mexican Hat seeds per packet
