Oka melon is a delicious, prolific, short-season melon. Light green, ridged skin with bright orange interior flesh. The taste is sweet, fruity, aromatic and melt-in-your-mouth good!

An established cross between Banana melon and Montreal Market melon, bred by Father Athanase of the Trappist Monastery at Oka, Montréal Quebec in 1912. Oka melon seeds obtained from Seed Treasures in Minnesota and grown out by Groundwork in Paonia, CO.

Planting Instructions: Start Oka melon seeds indoors 3-5 weeks before last spring frost and transplant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed. Or sow directly in the ground in well-draining rows with seeds spaced 12" apart. 

Seed Saving Instructions: Choose fully ripe, tasty fruits for seed saving. Dry seeds on a screen or cloth. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
