Ashwaganda

$4.95

Withania somnifera

Days to Maturity: 150-180 to mature fruits; start indoors

Ashwaganda has been cultivated for centuries as a traditional adaptogenic herb for a wide range of benefits. Native to Africa and Asia, it grows as an evergreen shrub. In India, Ashwaganda is a common Ayurvedic herb.

In the United States with our shorter growing seasons, Ashwaganda is grown as a summer annual and needs to be started indoors. It may also require a greenhouse. It loves full sun.

Planting Instructions: Start Ashwaganda seeds indoors, up to 10 weeks before last spring frost. Transplant into full sun (or greenhouse) after all danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed a bit. Water sparingly in well-draining soil. Do not overwater.

Seed Saving Instructions: Collect Ashwaganda seeds from fully mature fruits (when the paper husk around the fruits start to dry up).

Approx 50 Ashwaganda seeds per packet
