Echinacea purpurea

Also known as Purple Coneflower, Echinacea is a stunning native wildflower and a revered medicinal herb. Incredibly hardy, echinacea is a drought and heat tolerant perennial that will grace your garden for years to come. It also attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators!

Echinacea petals are also used to make natural dyes in pink, purple and even green tones.

Grown by Bluebird Dye Gardens in Dolores, CO.

Planting Instructions: Start Echinacea seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before planting out into full or partial sun. Or plant outdoors 1/4" deep, 4-6" apart in spring; or more thickly in fall. May be planted in early spring & fall when light frost is still possible.

Seed Saving Instructions: Crumble Echinacea seeds off flowerhead when fully mature and dry. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
