Are you a mountain or short-season gardener? Moscow is a reliable, long-term mountain adapted variety perfect for canning due to its thick skinned fruits. Larger, 3-4" round red fruits have a nice acidic and sweet flavor. Moscow is also a disease resistant variety. A determinate bush variety that grows to 3 or 4 feet tall.

Be sure to check out all of our short-season (less than 90 day) tomato varieties:

Planting Instructions: Start Moscow Tomato seeds indoors under grow lights or in a greenhouse 6-10 weeks before last frost. Transplant 2+ weeks after last frost when soil has warmed a bit. Space plants at least 4 feet apart. Support growth with tomato cages, a trellis or wire. Water regularly but avoid overwatering (soil should be moist but not wet).

Seed Saving Instructions: When fully ripe, pick your tastiest fruits from the most vigorous plants. Cut open and squeeze Moscow Tomato seeds and juice into a jar. Secure a cloth over the jar so air can enter. Ferment the juice and seeds in the jar for 2-3 days. Then strain and rinse the seeds. Dry on a screen or cloth. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
