Comes with a Squash Growing + Seed Saving Guide! Learn how to proliferate this unique variety to save & share seeds widely.

Cucurbita maxima

Days to Maturity: 110

Hopi Pale Gray squash is a delectable, hardy winter squash with a thick, hard shell that keeps longer than ANY other squash we've grown (ours kept for more than a year after harvest and was still delicious!!). A rare variety originally Hopi seed and recently kept in circulation by Seed Treasures in Minnesota, who gave us the seeds for grow-out. Please save your seeds and gift them to other gardeners so we can proliferate this incredible variety. Delectably sweet fruit has a light honey flavor and is perfect for baked squash, soups and pies. Medium to large fruits on big, sprawling vines with giant leaves. Likes organic matter, mulching and deep, infrequent watering. Drought tolerant.

Planting Instructions: Start Hopi Pale Gray squash seeds indoors 3 weeks before last frost and transplant after all danger of frost has passed. Or seed outdoors after frost if your growing season is at least 100 days long, when soil has warmed (here in early June). Plant 2-3" deep in mounds of well-draining soil, with 3 seeds per mound. Mounds should be at least 5 feet apart.

Seed Saving Instructions: Select as many of your tastiest, fully mature fruits as possible for seed saving. Cut open squash and lay seeds out to dry on a screen or cloth. You may rinse them in a strainer if needed. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.

Approximately 15 Hopi Pale Gray squash seeds per packet
