Gold Rush Currant Tomato

$3.95

Solanum pimpinellifolium

Days to Maturity: 80 from transplant

Early maturing Gold Rush Currant tomatoes bear boatloads of fruit throughout the season! Starts fruiting 1.5-2 months from transplant. Small, bright yellow fruits are bursting with flavor and best eaten raw on salads or sandwiches (or you might just pop them all in your mouth before they get there!). Cut entire truss to harvest. Sprawling indeterminate.

Original seeds from Miss Penn's Mountain Seeds. Grown by Groundwork in Paonia, CO.

Planting Instructions: Start Gold Rush Currant tomato seeds indoors under grow lights or in a greenhouse 6-10 weeks before last frost. Transplant 2+ weeks after last frost when soil has warmed a bit. Space plants at least 4 feet apart. Support growth with tomato cages, a trellis or wire. Water regularly but avoid overwatering (soil should be moist but not wet).

Seed Saving Instructions: When fully ripe, pick your tastiest fruits from the most vigorous plants. Cut open and squeeze seeds and juice into a jar. Secure a cloth over the jar so air can enter. Ferment the juice and seeds in the jar for 2-3 days. Then strain and rinse the seeds. Dry on a screen or cloth. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
