More information about the Three Sisters:
The Three Sisters are Corn, Beans and Squash. They have been grown by many indigenous cultures--including Hopi, Diné (Navajo) and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois)--across North America for centuries. These plants have symbiotic relationships: Corn provides a pole for the Climbing Beans; Beans fix nitrogen into the soil; large Squash leaves provide shade and discourage weeds. They also have symbiotic nutrients for human consumption, together providing complete nutrition.
