Hutterite Beans

$7.00

Phaseolus vulgaris

Days to Maturity: 75

We love Hutterite Beans for their unique light lime-green color and creamy cooked texture. Dry beans cook quickly and are ideal as a bean soup or addition to casseroles. They are bush beans that do not require trellising. An old heirloom that has been grown since the early 1800s! The beans may have been brought from Ukraine by the Hutterites, a Christian sect, and grown in Hutterite communities in North Dakota.

Planting Instructions: Sow Hutterite Beans directly in the ground 2" deep, 3" apart in spring after all danger of frost has passed. Keep moist until germinated.

Seed Saving Instructions: Allow pods to fully dry on the vine. Pick dried pods into a bin and crush to dislodge beans. Store beans in a paper or mesh bag to ensure they dry fully and remain dry.

Approx 30 Hutterite Bean seeds per packet
