Cherokee Cornfield Pole Snap Bean

$11.00

Phaseolus vulgaris

Days to Maturity: 70-90

A wide diversity of colors and shading patterns displays Cherokee Cornfield Pole Bean's highly resilient genetics and make this bean especially fun to harvest. Eat young and tender as a snap bean; as a shelling bean like edamame-- boil or steam and then pop the beans out of the pod; or as a dry bean. Drought tolerant, low water needs and landrace. True to their name, we like to run our Cherokee Cornfield Pole Beans up our cornstalks which gives them a natural trellis and fixes needed nitrogen in our cornfield.

Planting Instructions: Sow directly in the ground 2" deep, 3" apart in spring after all danger of frost has passed. Keep moist until germinated. Ideally plant 2-4" away from your corn plants when your corn is at least 1" tall. Needs a cornstalk, trellis, fence or sunflower stalk to climb.

Seed Saving Instructions: Allow pods to fully dry on the vine. Pick dried pods into a bin and crush to dislodge beans. Store beans in a paper or mesh bag to ensure they dry fully and remain dry.

Approx 30 seeds/packet
