This corn is a selection from our Rainbow Corn Landrace. We selected for speckled kernels and tie-dye kernels with multiple colors in each kernel! The result is naturally psychedelic. It will keep you up late at night learning the mysteries of the universe from the corn mother.
This gorgeous rainbow blue corn is a landrace flour/grinding corn stemming from ancestral puebloan ancestry around the southwest as well as other blue corns (Rio Grande and Oaxacan Blue). Rainbow colors (blues, reds, yellows & whites) will appear in future generations.
This native flour corn is a grinding/masa corn for making tortillas, tamales, stews and more. Boil with lime for 1-2 hours to nixtamalize and then grind into masa using a food processor, blender or grain mill. Or simply boil whole nixtamalized kernels into hearty stews. Also a beautiful ornamental and ceremonial corn.
Planting Instructions: Plant Rainbow Corn seeds 6" deep in late April-mid May in clumps of 5 seeds per hole, spaced 3-5 feet apart. No thinning is necessary.
Seed Saving Instructions: Pick corn cobs when fingernail does not dent kernels, as leaves are browning. Shuck (remove leaves) and allow kernels to dry fully on the cob. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
Approx 50 Rainbow Corn seeds per packet
