Lemon Basil

$7.00

Ocimum basilicum

Days to Maturity: 90-120 (start indoors for a headstart)

Lemon Basil is our all-time favorite basil! The aromatic fragrance and perfect lemony-sweet-pungent taste is out of this world. We loved walking by our lemon basil patch all season long just to inhale the delicious fragrance. Try fresh leaves on pizzas, in tomato sauces & alfredos; and ground for pesto. We also love to dry the leaves for flavorful winter seasoning or grind and freeze easy winter pesto. Bees also love the basil flowers!

Planting Instructions: Start Lemon Basil seed in flats and transplant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed, or direct seed outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Sow 1/4" deep and keep seeds moist. Basil loves warmth and dies with frosts, so make sure to harvest all your remaining basil (or cover well) when the first fall frost arrives. To prolong your basil harvest, pinch off flowering tops.

Seed Saving Instructions: Allow select plants to bolt and go to seed. Collect Lemon Basil seeds when dry and they easily crumble into your hand (or a bucket). Store in a cool, dark and dry place.

Approx 200 Lemon Basil seeds per packet
