Punta Banda Tomato

$11.00

Solanum lycopersicum

Days to Maturity: 80 from transplant

Punta Banda tomato is desert-adapted! Adapted to Punta Banda, Mexico and received from Native Seeds SEARCH in Tucson, AZ. This amazing tomato LOVES the heat and full sun and thrives with lower water levels than most tomatoes. A great producer. This is a meaty and mild tomato, good eaten raw and even better for sauces and pastes.  Highly recommended for anyone in the Four Corners region and farther South.

Planting Instructions: Start Punta Banda tomato seeds indoors under grow lights or in a greenhouse 6-10 weeks before last frost. Transplant 2+ weeks after last frost when soil has warmed a bit. Space plants at least 4 feet apart. Support growth with tomato cages, a trellis or wire. Water regularly but avoid overwatering (soil should be moist but not wet).

Seed Saving Instructions: When fully ripe, pick your tastiest fruits from the most vigorous plants. Cut open and squeeze seeds and juice into a jar. Secure a cloth over the jar so air can enter. Ferment the juice and seeds in the jar for 2-3 days. Then strain and rinse the seeds. Dry on a screen or cloth. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
