Helianthus annuus
Gigantic sunflowers tower over 8-10+ feet. Huge flower heads produce abundant sunflower seeds perfect for snacking, adding to animal feed and delighting the birds. These heirlooms are so easy and impressive to grow!
Planting Instructions: Plant directly in the ground 6-12" apart after last frost. Do not overwater.
Seed Saving Instructions: First flowers will dry and start drooping (see 3rd & 4th photos). Then seeds will start to dry out. Cut whole flower heads and remove seeds so they can fully dry. We like to use a rubber glove to dislodge the seeds from the flowerhead. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
