Cucurbita maxima

Days to Maturity: 100

Among the best tasting squash we've ever enjoyed! From the Ayeyarwady Delta in Myanmar (previously Burma), but enjoys our climate and soils. Deep orange flesh with earthy, nutty and sweet flavor. Perfect for stuffed squash, pies, baked goods and soups. A fantastic new squash to try. A minimal percentage may be crossed with Blue Hubbard, a giant & tasty maxima.

We received these seeds from High Desert Seed + Gardens in Montrose, CO, who received them from Anpetu Oihankesni, a renowned Colorado seed keeper, who gathered them in Myanmar.

Planting Instructions: Sow directly in the ground after all danger of frost has passed & soil has warmed a bit. Plant 2-3" deep in mounds of well-draining soil. Mounds should be at least 5 feet apart. Vines are large and sprawling.

Seed Saving Instructions: Select as many of your tastiest, fully mature fruits as possible for seed saving. Cut open squash and lay seeds out to dry on a screen or cloth. You may rinse them in a strainer if needed. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.
